My goodness! i have fallen out of my diet. for the past two weeks, i was no longer able to maintain my fruit only breakfast. It started when we had visitors. I do the breakfast preparation which is of course the usual Filipino breakfast and there... im so exposed to temptation. At first, i just took bites but then as days go by i joined them in the table.... how can i resist family breakfast! For the past weeks, gathering had also been constant... birthday party here, thanksgiving party there, get-together everywhere.....and as expected plenty of delicious foods are served...and now holiday is fast approaching!!!

WELL..... reasons..... reasons!i know i have to do something about this..... i gained two pounds! argh!

Walking my weight off

Its been six weeks since i did walking as my morning exercise. I no longer jog as prescribed by Auntie Beth (the traditional masseuse). A dear friend joined me in my walk which made it more exciting. She was sedentary for quite some time which is why during our first day of walk, we were on a slow pace but three week later, she got her momentum and now were walking 20 mins/ mile. were doing 40-60 minutes at least 4x a week. For the first three weeks, i lost only two pounds. I was 160 lbs when we started walking and now i am 153. i never imagined i could loose some weight just by walking....

Jogging can cause low uterus?

Last Sunday, my husband, sis-in-law and I went to visit an aunt. We were all happy to see each other, she immediately served us food as usual. She is a busy woman working in a canteen. While i was about do my first bite, she suddenly stopped me and asked me to eat later because she talked to her mate, that she will hilot (Traditional massage) me. You see my aunt is so excited to have her "apo" (grandchild) with me and she knows that "hilot" will be a big help. I also believe in the healing powers of hilot.
In short Ate beth, the manghihilot (masseuse)massaged me and told me that my matris (uterus) is very low. She said it could be one reason why i am having a hard time to conceive (im married for over a year now). she said that lifting or carrying heavy thing and stress could have caused it. She asked me what exercise i do and told her i was jogging and walking. She asked me to stop jogging anymore because it just worsens my condition.

I felt sad because its the only exercise that i am enjoying but of course conceiving is also important which is why i gave up Jogging for one week already. I decided to do walking instead.

WEIGHT LOSS PLATEAU

Two months of fruit only for breakfast till noon time, 5 x a week of 20-30 minutes jogging and 40 minutes walking. No soft drinks.... no canned or powder mix juice....2 cups of coffee a week,.... 10-12 glasses of water every day and what did i get?

For the past 7 weeks, i was so excited on losing weight especially when the scale tip rapidly moving to the left. I got so obsessed that i weigh myself 2x daily. Before i started doing the fruits only for breakfast, i weighed 180 lbs and after 7 weeks i am now 160 lbs. But alas for the past 2 weeks, the scale tip wasn't moving anymore, it got stucked in 160lbs. With the thought that my scale at home is no longer functional, i weighed myself in the big weighing scale of the grocery store near our office but it still gave the same result. I got so disappointed and i panicked.... so i did some research and discovered that i must have hit a plateau. This is the stage where the body adjusted to the new calorie intake and energy expenditure wherein it is balanced. My body no longer recognize the calorie deficit. What to do? here is what a dietblog suggested

1. Zig-Zag Calorie Intake
Zig-zagging, or calorie cycling is the process of varying daily calorie intake, while maintaining the same weekly intake. Instead of consuming (for example) precisely 1800 calories each day - you can mix it up. Eat 1500 calories one day, and 2100 calories the next. This can be as simple as halving then doubling a portion size, or adding a post-workout shake into the plan. Just keep your body guessing. Further: Zig-zag calculator.

2. Strength Training
If you are not doing this as part of your program or lifestyle, then it's time to start. Working your muscles will help to strengthen bone tissue, increase lean mass, and ultimately boost metabolic rate.

3. Change Your Exercise Routine

So you go walking a lot? Then try jogging, or swimming, or cycling -- anything that will change the way your body is working. If you are doing low intensity cardio work, then try some high intensity exercise (such as HIIT). Need help?Check out these exercise ideas.

4. Alter Macro-nutrient Intake
Although it sounds complicated, once again, the idea is to change what you are eating. If (for example) you are eating a moderate diet that is higher in carbs - try eating less carbs and more protein. There is no need to get super-technical over the whole thing. If you have a carbohydrate snack every day at morning tea time - change it to a protein snack. Whatever you are doing consistently - try mixing it up a bit. However if you want to get technical, use a nutrient calculator.

5. Change Meal Frequency
If you are eating three square meals a day - start adding snacks in between (which may mean reducing the portion size of the main meals). Eating often is an old and common style of eating - once again, you are trying to boost your metabolic rate.

I still have to try this out......

fruit only breakfast II

I'm in my 5th week of consuming fruits only and a glass of carrot juice for breakfast. I'm proud to report that i loosed 10 lbs. 20 lbs more to go. Last week i raised the bar to a higher level.... I included exercise which is 30- 1 hour walking and jogging combined 3-4x a week. I started to jog the other the other day and boy i felt so great. Upon arriving at the park, i was greeted by a group of Joggers who pleasantly asked me to join them. For starters (again) i maxed a continuous 10 minutes jog then walked back home which took me 15 minutes. This morning i went to Jog again, did another 10 mins jog. Tomorrow i will go Jog again... hope it wont rain.

Fruits only Breakfast

I have tried lots of diet, enrolled in several gyms.. I even tried drinking water only for 3 days. Gosh i can still remember the headache and irritation..... at times i achieve my goals but then after a few months i gain it back again and worse with a vengeance. I realized that my diet were unrealistic.... all were crash diet. Until i tried this the fruit only breakfast. An aunt discussed to me the importance of eating raw fruits and vegetables aside from the basic reason that it is nutritious. It has something to do with enzymes. There are two source of enzymes, the natural one produced by the body and one coming raw foods. Enzymes is vital in human being. If no enzyme is left in the body, the body dies. We are naturally loaded with enzymes but digestive enzymes is destroyed in our food when cooked. and thus the body has to draw the necessary enzymes to digest the cooked foods we take in which in turn leads to decrease of body enzymes. Research has shown that this might be a cause of a lot of degenerative diseases.

In church, our preacher Bro. Bo also encourages us to load our body with plenty of raw foods and vegies. Of course the reason why i want to reduce my weight is to be healthy. To have good genes to pass on to my future children and grandchildren. To fit in my "old" clothes and look better. I made a declaration that I will eat fruits only for breakfast permanently. its easy to maintain, so delicious and exiting. I am blessed to live in a tropical country where fruits can be bought anywhere, its so affordable especially the fruits in season.

On my first day i started with drinking two glasses of water upon waking up, then i did a little stretching and walked around the neighborhood for about twenty to thirty minutes. Then upon returning home, i juiced some fresh carrots added an apple and a bunch of celery (research prove celery burns fat. i sipped it while cooling off and while i prepare my fruit salad which is usually composed of half an apple, half orange, papaya, and water melon . After two hours, i felt hungry and cant resist eating the rice cake a little girl peddled in our office. I did the same routine for the whole week and when i weighed myself, i was disappointed to see that i didn't lose any pound but at least i didn't gain any either. Despite the disappointment, i still continued my fruit only breakfast because i feel light and energized in the morning and whats best is that about 20 minutes after finishing my food, i am called to sit in my throne which doesnt take a minute to relieve.

On my second week, i weighed my self again and i was surprised to see that loosed 2 lbs. and the week after, i loosed another 2 lbs. I am now on my fourth week and i still manage to eat fruits only for breakfast. Studies also show that eating raw foods especially fruits only for breakfast gives the kidney and other organs time to rest..... I may have loosed the lbs very slowly but i am happy that i am losing weight without struggling much.

Fruits only Breakfast

Its been years that i've been struggling with losing weight. I've tried lots of diet, enrolled in several gyms and even enrolled in a very expensive gym with the thought that i will be encouraged because im paying so much.

Losing weight

This has been my issue for the ahhhhm past five years. Every time i look in the mirror, i am saddened with what i see. Curves in all the wrong places sheez. This started when worked as a legal staff. Fastfood, wrong lifestyle and lack of exercise. I recall a friend asking me once, "comfortable ka ba sa katawan mong yan?" I almost shouted, kelangan ba bang itanong yan? but i posted a smile and said.... "yes i am!" but deep inside i was already crying out of embarrassment. So a week after, i enrolled in the gym. I enjoyed going to the gym however it only lasted for almost six months and then i stopped because i got busy with studies and work.

Side effect: i ballooned again. It did not really matter that much before because i know some who are bigger than i am. It is only when someone close to me comments that i try to lose weight but after a while i stop because my reason is not that strong ...But now i am truly alarmed.....it has come to the point that it has affected my health. My menstruation is no longer regular and have polycystic ovary- all caused by excess fats!

Fear- when my OB said "you have to do something about your weight otherwise we will have a hard time not to mention expensive treatment in order for you to conceive (i had been married for almost a year);further my family has a history of Diabetes.... my dad and uncle died on an early age due to this decease.

Goal- To get rid of the excess 45 pounds on or before December 31,2010... to be exact that would be Nine months and 1 week from now. Than means i should lose at least 5-6 pounds a month, 1.5 pounds per week.... is this realistic? it is!

How? Well losing weight is not easy. I attempted many times, i did loose weight but only for a while then i gained it back again. A close friend said my reason should be really strong in order for me to achieve my goal.

Last week, i attended mass where i bought thin brochure titled "7 days of prayer & fasting by Bo Sanchez". I was inspired by the effect of this thin brochure to my friend... he indeed shrink a little.....that night, i was reading its contents and it really struck me. I felt guilty for not having taken care of my body.. which is just borrowed from the lord.

I will do the 7 days fasting. I prefer the liquid only fasting which means i will only consume water and fresh fruit and vegetable juice for 7 days. This is to detoxify by body.

For a start, since the beginning of March, i already reduced my food consumption, and for this week,i
